Snake ~ Impulsive, shrewd, rebirth, transformation, initiation, wisdom, able to use earth's energies. Associated with rebirth, able to see the true person, guardian of sacred places, keeper of hidden knowledge. In eastern cultures, a snake rising up through the spine represents the Kundalini or life force being awakened. Shedding its skin symbolises how we shed old ways/habits as we grow into higher spiritual energy. It's also associated with astral travel and O.O.B.E's. People with a snake totem (power animal) need very little food to energise themselves and they're usually cold, prefering warmer climates.Their body temps are usually lower than normal. They're known for speed and agility, so expect swift changes to sweep through your life. Only those with a high degree of spiritual training (past or present) will be awarded this totem.

*Many stories exist about the weaver - grandmother spider. She carried on her back, the gift of fire, in a basket that she wove and presented it to the people. Another story says that her web bound all things together and formed the foundation of earth. These legends give the spider a link to past and future, birth and creation. When spider crawls into your awareness, it's asking you to rebuild the web of your life in accordance with the design the creator gave us. The hidden message of spider is unity. The study of numerology is beneficial to those who have spider totem (power animal). Past, present and future are all interwoven, spider awakens our intuitive, creative senses and encourages us to design the fabric of our lives from our soul's original intention. If you see a spider in it's web or creating a new one, pay attention. It symbolizes where you are in the weaving of your own destiny. A study of the medicine wheel and the 4 directions is helpful. Because spiders are very delicate, they embody the energy of gentleness. They're not usually aggressive unless defending their lives. Moving forward in all situations with a gentle strength is a skill that often needs to be learned for those with this totem. It signifies the tapestry of life - the web we weave is the reality we experience. Choosing the appropriate path is one of the lessons associated with this totem. *

Squirrel ~ Planner, gatherer, preperation, adaptability, conservation. Plan ahead and prepare for the future, save for a rainy day. Donate time, energy and resources to a worthy cause. This could be a time to withdraw from the world, count your blessings and wait for better times.
