You can actually gaze into a bowl of water in the same way you would use a crystal ball or mirror, some people add a drop of ink or food colouring to the water but you can use it plain too

I just bought a scrying bowl. I am interested in seeing as nosterdomus did. So I went to a medaphysical store and bought a black scrying bowl. So far havent got into it yet. I will keep you posted.

As to your bowl, please do keep us posted.
If you want to you can begin your own thread in the members only section as an online journal to record your experiences etc, the only thing i'd suggest is keeping a record at home too just in case the site crashes or anything, not very likely but it does happen to some.
