What is the one piece of advice you would give to someone just beginning their spiritual journey?

best bit of advice i would give would be... Try not to try too hard. I found i used to, and i quickly became discouraged. Little and often in the way of meditation etc etc

That's often the best way, Carly, but I often find myself trying too hard. Especially when I get inspired about something, I find it difficult to not try too hard.

Thats exactly like me Gary. I am so keen to progress, i want it all yesterday you know lol but ive had to take a step back because i really think it hindered my progress. All i have done is cut down on my meditation a little and instead of sitting there for a long time (desperetly wanting something to happen) i just meditate for 30 mins or so. But i know exactly what you mean every now and then i have to tell myself to stop trying so damn hard! lol

Is to sit at set times / days with the intention of communicating with spirit/guides angels etc. you may at first not recive anything but intend to build your connection and energy anyway, this really does work :pink flo:

* To learn as much as you can, from as many different sources as you can - both external and internal. Only by sifting through it all can you begin to find the grains of 'universal truths' that seem to lie at the heart of most paths.

* To accept that, however much you learn, it will always be a fractional drop of what / how things truly are! (as Socrates said: "The only true wisdom lies in knowing we know nothing.")

* To not get too 'caught up' in 'spiritual phenomena'... they are merely different elements of all-that-is, and no more 'the whole truth' than anything else... though they do offer a valuable new piece of the whole jigsaw.

* To realise that it's all part of a far greater journey... it's not a race to 'get there'... in fact, in an infinite universe, there's probably no 'there' to get to!

* To question every 'message' you receive (remembering that everything is a message of some sort!) as to whether it is loving and of benefit to you and all... if it is, accept it... if it isn't, refuse it and learn from it.

* To realise that the whole of life is a spiritual journey. Your spirituality and spiritual development should be an integral part of your whole life, not a 'bolt-on extra.'

* Never take anything too seriously! Including yourself!!

* If you don't enjoy it, don't do it.

In short:

Search for truth; always be loving; enjoy!

I would say, that everyone comes to their spiritual journey in their own time and in their own way. and that however it is, IS the way in which it is supposed to be.

on second thought...that was FAR too confusing LOL
i hope someone doesn't ask me

Very good advice from all the above . :grouphug:
My advice would be " Learn to Protect yourself " before Starting out on your spiritual journey . :whip: xxx
